The Institute houses a specialized scientific library with a collection of more than 40,000 works relating to Augustine and the Augustinian Order. These include some valuable and rare old prints, mainly in its division in Ghent. The institute currently receives some two hundred journals. Its catalogue can be easily consulted here (you can further limit the search under “Religieuze instellingen” by selecting “Augustijns Historisch Instituut”).
In addition, the library offers an optimal environment for study, comprising a quiet reading area and three small office rooms with a view of the monastery garden. Visitors have access to the internet.
